Buying in Mexico
Step by step
- Tell us how you want to live. Not which house — which life. The neighbourhood answer follows from that, and it is the part strangers on the internet cannot do for you.
- Come and look. We will show you the good and the bad of each area. If we think you should rent for six months before buying anything, we will say so, even though it costs us the sale.
- Make an offer. We put it in writing, in a transparent contract, and hold earnest money in a US account.
- Title and paperwork. The notario reviews title; if you are buying in the restricted zone the bank begins the fideicomiso. Papers and dimensions have to be in order — if they are not, the bank will not issue the trust.
- Closing. Signed before the notario público. Typically 30–60 days from accepted offer.
- Registration. The escritura is registered. Only then is the sale complete.
